European Integration Award

The motivation for establishing the Cercle d’Economia was to contribute to the transition from a closed and underdeveloped Spain to the open a democratic Europe that was born with the Treaty of Rome. Today, when Spain has become one of the pillars of the European project, the challenge is to contribute to a better, more united, and more prosperous Europe. With the award for European Integration, the Cercle d’Economia seeks to recognize important individuals who, through their political, economic, social, or cultural career, have contributed to the construction of Europe, to the consolidation of the European Union or the strengthening of its principles and values. In this first edition of the Prize, on 2020, the Jury decided to recognize Mario Draghi, President of the Council of Ministers of Italy and former ECB President 2011-2019. In 2022, the Jury decided to award on the second edition to the European Commission on the figure of Ursula Von der Leyen, president of the European Comission.
