Joan-Ramon Borrell

Professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona
He holds a degree and a PhD in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Barcelona (1993 and 1999) and a Master's degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick (1996). He did a post-doctoral stay in the Department of Economics at Harvard University (2000-2001). Currently, he is Professor of Economics at the University of Barcelona (UB), researcher at the Consolidated Research Group on Governments and Markets (GiM – UB), at the Institute of Applied Economics (IREA – UB), researcher at the Public Policy Observatory (OAP – UB), associate researcher at the Public-Private Sector Research Center (PPRS – IESE) and at the Center for Research in Economics and Health (CRES – UPF). He is also an economic advisor to the Cercle d'Economia. He is coordinator of the Master's Degree in Economics, Regulation and Competition in Public Services, member of the Coordination Committee of the Master's Degree in Economics, and lecturer in Industrial Organization, Empirical Industrial Organization, Quantitative Techniques for the Regulation and Defense of Competition and Pharmacoeconomics at the UB School of Economics. He is the author of 14 articles in journals of the Journal of Citations Report, and 30 additional publications in the area of empirical industrial organization, competition economics, regulation and public policies in essential services.
