Maite Barrera is an entrepreneur and founder of Bluecap, a leading strategic consulting firm for the financial sector. She is currently an advisory board member of the technology group Globant (listed on the NYSE), where she previously served on the global Executive Committee.
Committed to civil society and institutional engagement, she is a trustee and member of the Audit Committee of the “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, a trustee of the Princess of Girona Foundation, where she also serves on the executive committee of the board and the Audit Committee, and a board member of ESADE. She was the first female President of ESADE Alumni and has served as President of Barcelona Global. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Cercle d’Economia and the Advisory Board of Grupo Godó.
She holds a degree in Business Administration from ESADE and an MBA from ESADE and the Anderson School of Management (UCLA).
In 2005, she founded Bluecap, a pioneering consultancy in the application of advanced analytics and artificial intelligence to the transformation of the banking sector, initially in the areas of risk and capital management. Over the years, Bluecap became a key partner in the merger processes of the country’s leading financial institutions. At the end of 2020, Barrera sold the company to the technology multinational Globant, a leader in digital transformation, innovation, and artificial intelligence, joining its global Executive Committee.
In early 2024, she stepped down from executive functions at Globant to continue serving as an advisory board member to the group and its founders. She is currently an investor in various sectors. Prior to founding Bluecap, she worked at Oliver Wyman & Co (Financial Services) in the London and Madrid offices, leading projects across Europe and Latin America.
