Xavier Vives

Professor of economics and finance, and academic director of the Public-Private Sector Research Center (PPSRC) at IESE Business School
Professor of economics and finance, and academic director of the Public-Private Sector Research Center (PPSRC) at IESE Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He has been a professor at INSEAD, UAB, UPF, U. of Pennsylvania, Harvard and New York University. Director of the Institute of Economic Analysis of the CSIC 1991-2001, and Program Directors of the CEPR 1991-1997. Member of CAREC 2011-2015, Special Advisor to the Commissioner for Competition Joaquín Almunia 2011-2014. He has published more than one hundred and thirty articles in academic journals and three reference books in the areas of oligopoly, market information transmission, and competition and banking stability, as well as numerous European economic policy reports, including those of the EEAG group of Cesifo in Munich. He has received the King James I Award for Economics in 2013 and the Pascual Madoz National Research Award in 2020. Duisenberg Fellow at the European Central Bank. He is currently a member of the Group of Experts of the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Scientific and Technical Committee of the State Research Agency, and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the European Systemic Risk Board of the European Central Bank.
