Antoni Brufau has held the position as Chairman of Repsol since 2004. His extensive experience in the business world and his knowledge of the energy sector has enabled him in the last decade to lead the company‘s transformation process. Antonio Brufau's relationship with Repsol began in 1996, the year he joined the board of directors. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona and was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Ramón Llull University, Barcelona. He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen, becoming a Partner and Director of Auditing. Between 1999 and 2004 he held the position as Managing Director of the “la Caixa” Group. He was President of the Gas Natural Group between 1997 and 2004. He is currently a member of the Business Action Council of CEOE, Member of the AED and Cercle d'Economia, Honorary Chairman of the GLOBALleida Consortium. He is a trustee of the Cerdà Institute, Elcano Royal Institute, CEDE Foundation, FUNSEAM, COTEC and the Princess of Girona Foundation. Antonio Brufau is also president of the Repsol Foundation.
