Road, Canal and Port Engineer (1966) and graduate of the Programa de Alta Dirección de Empresas (PADE) from IESE (1970). Joan Molins developed his professional career at Cementos Molins where he began working in 1971. Since then, he has held several positions such as CEO, Vice President and is currently Group Chairman. He has been chairman of the Port of Barcelona (1979-1998) and the Executive Committee of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce (1991-2006). He has also been president of the Cercle d'Economia (1992-1995), advisor to Repsol YPF (1994-2006) and Saica (2006-2011). Since 1971, he has also been a member of the Executive Committee of the IESE Members Association. He has been a patron of the Cercle d'Economia Foundation since 1995, president of Institut Cerdà since 2016, where he has been a patron since 1998. He is also Vice President of the Investment Portfolio.
